Our Beliefs & Practices
CREED
The creeds are statements of our basic belief about God. These foundational
doctrinal beliefs are used in worship services. At LIG we use the Apostle’s Creed
and the Nicene Creed. The Apostle’s Creed is used in our worship to remind us
of Baptismal Covenant. The Nicene Creed is the creed of the universal Church
and is used at the sacrament of Holy Communion.
EUCHARIST
The Holy Eucharist is the sacrament commanded by Christ for remembrance of
His life, death and resurrection, until His return. It is also called; the Lord’s
Supper, Holy Communion, the Divine Liturgy, the Mass and the Great Offering.
COLLECT
Collect prayers are often used in public worship services, during the opening or concluding prayers, or as part of specific liturgical ceremonies. They are meant to be communal prayers, gathered and offered on behalf of the entire congregation. The concise structure of the collect prayer allows for a focused and unified expression of the common prayers and needs of the people gathered for worship.
